Bangalore: Five emerging technology forces – Social Business, mobility, cloud, cyber security and Gamification including the Big data broadly impact and provide the opportunity for the elevation of IT in digital business in 2012, according to Deloitte's 3rd annual Tech Trends report ‘Elevate IT for Digital Business’ which was recently released.

The report lists out technology trends that are likely to have the most significant impact businesses over the next two years and Deloitte classifies these trends either disruptors or enablers.

"It's an uncommon time to have so many emerging forces - all rapidly evolving, technology-centric and each already impacting business so strongly," said Mark White, principal and chief technology officer, Deloitte Consulting LLP. "The convergence of these forces offers a new set of tools, opening the door to a new set of rules for operations, performance and competition. Our report outlines the opportunity for IT to truly help elevate business performance."

Disruptors –are something that can create sustainable positive disruption in IT capabilities, business operations and sometimes even business model. Thus, disruptions really don’t have to be bad things. Social Business, Gamification, Enterprise Mobility Unleashed, User Empowerment and Hyper-hybrid Cloud all fall into this category

Enablers - Big Data Goes to Work, Geospatial Visualization, Digital Identities, Measured Innovation and Outside-in Architecture - are technologies which fall under this category.

Social Business

Social computing is a concept that has been around for quite sometime now and social business is more than just a buzz of social media networks it’s a practice that can enable more effective, efficient and net-new connections inside and outside your organization to drive performance. Social technologies, platforms, strategies and programs have the capacity to make business decisions, actions and outcomes across an enterprise’s entire ecosystem. Some enterprises have just turned a blind eye towards social media because they don’t see a path to value. Others have only scratched the surface, establishing a social networking presence with the hope that this will gain more customers or build brand equity. But an effective social business should attempt to root in a strategy that effectively addresses the changing scenario.

1: The trends certainly can impact IT but just temporarily the very fact that they "TRENDS" eventually brings the question along whether these trends can sustain in long run or not?
