NEW DELHI: Top five Indian IT firms added over 190 clients in the $1million per annum revenue bracket in FY ‘05, hiking the total client base in this category to 804. This amounts to growth of 32 percent in the client base, which have revenues greater than $1million per annum. Companies like Satyam and Patni have witnessed a higher growth in their client base, greater than 45 percent. A year ago, the top five IT companies, namely, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL Tech and Satyam had a total customer base of 611 in the $1million bracket. This base has grown at a healthy rate, with clients being added not only in this category, but also in the higher revenue brackets. Nasscom had estimated a 35 percent growth in IT and BPO exports for the IT companies to $17.9 billion in FY ‘05. Only four companies had more than 100 clients each in the $1million per annum revenue category a year back, namely Infosys, Wipro, TCS and HCL Tech. Now Satyam has entered this club, with 130 clients having revenues greater than $1million per annum. In this bracket, the customer base of Satyam has grown by 46 percent in the past year. For the quarter ended March ‘04, HCL Technologies did not have any client with revenues greater than $10 million per annum. The situation has changed now with the company having 12 clients with revenues greater than $10m per annum and four clients with revenues greater than $20 million per annum. With regard to the large clients, both TCS and Infosys have increased their client base, which have revenue greater than $50 million per annum. Both these companies now have five clients each with revenues greater than $50 million per annum. A year back, Infosys had just three clients in this category compared to four clients for TCS. The client base of Wipro in this category was not available. The maximum growth in the number of clients, witnessed by the top five companies, however, has been in the category of clients having revenues greater than $10 million per annum. The 73 percent growth in the total number of clients of these five companies in this category is higher than the 45 percent growth in client base with revenues greater than $5 million per annum, or 32 percent growth in the $1 million per annum bracket. The total client base of the five companies in the $20 million per annum revenues category has grown by 68 percent last year.
