Food waste in Finland's restaurants and retail sector were both found out to be around half of the food waste created in the household levels in the country. Among the most wasted food in the country was of the vegetables, homemade food products, dairy products, bread etc. The main reason for food waste was because the food was spoiled, best before date was expired etc. These facts were found out by the MTT Agrifood Research Finland, Biotechnology and Food Research Sustainable Bioeconomy, and MTT Agrifood Research Finland, Economic Research.

Those numbers are wrong. We Danes waste 63 kilos per person per year - NOT 660.

Maybe someone with a better grasp of numbers, percentages, the metric systems, and calculators, should have written this.

I suggest two ways of solving this waste to a good reuse:1.As there are garbage collection bins in most countries, have one for biodegradable stuff and the other really worthless ones the dry kind. On the first type it can be used to generate electricity cheaply to feed the grid. On the second try to convert into Asphalt which can be used for roads resurfacing. All it needs is an entrepreneurial spirit.Any takers?

It definitely appears a false findings having no base.
If we look at the consumption of food grains and based on it if we workout the population, the most populated areas are US and Europe, because they waste a lot. Indian waste of food grains is mostly political because Nehruvian Congress and its allies want to dispose off the so-called rotten grains to make money by fraudulently declaring them rotten.

Echoing previous post just who are the professors and eminent food experts and world renowned economists who have compiled this list.
What is it, a Muslim based anti Western blog because India has its food waste amongst the middle and rich groups.
Have you gone around peoples dustbins? This whole report is a load of human waste

This article seems to be blinkered. I know first hand that enormous amounts of food are wasted in some of the Middle Eastern countries. Is there any scientific basis to this rating or is it just based on individual figures and not on groups of evenly comparable figures?
