Toonz, Marvel tie up for second part of X-Men series

Thiruvananthapuram: Singapore-based animation major Toonz Entertainment Pte Ltd has tied up with Marvel Animation to produce the second part of the popular animated television series "Wolverine and the X-Men", a top official said here Tuesday. Toonz Group chief executive P. Jayakumar said the company was thrilled to join hands with Marvel, a global leader in animated entertainment industry, to showcase "one of the most sought-after, iconic characters of all time". "This second season will bring fans even more fresh and exciting stories and take us even deeper into the X-Men universe," Jayakumar said. The first part of the X-Men series was produced by Toonz in association with First Serve International. First Serve was later acquired by Marvel. The production of the latest series will be undertaken at the Toonz studio on the Technopark campus here. Marvel president (animation) Eric Rollman said the response to the first series was outstanding and now "We are bringing together the same team and looking forward to continuing the success with all new episodes". Toonz, part of the the Geneva-based Comcraft Group, is a major provider of animation to the top US and European producers.
