The Most Annoying Habits of Tourists
Bangalore: Well, most of us are embarrassed by the frolics of our fellow travelers or are guilty of a few sins ourselves! We do agree though, that it's hard to get hold on the etiquette of a new place but sometimes tourists leave the natives quietly narked. Here are some top piques about tourists, from scuffling at the ticket counter to walking the streets starker! London: The Oyster card is used as a form of electronic ticketing used on public transport in London. And travelers trying to touch in on London's Oyster system using a paper ticket are the most annoying part of tourists in London! What they don't understand is that they are making themselves look like a fool while trying to fool the system! Barcelona: La Rambla is a street in central Barcelona that is trendy with both tourists and locals alike. A 1.2 kilometer-long tree-lined pedestrian mall between Barri Gotic and El Raval is also lined with tourists who walk around wearing only what they had on in the sea. Copenhagen: Tourists are noticeably disappointed at how small The Little Mermaid statue is when they show up at that spot. It is very annoying given that she's called The Little Mermaid, this shouldn't be much of a surprise. Mumbai: Many people visiting Mumbai usually make sure that they visit the Gateway of India, but more than often, they refer to the place as "India Gate" which is the name of another monument in Delhi. Mumbaikars are more than resentful when they call it that and think it is more or less like sacrilege! Charleston, SC, USA: Tourists believe that the Old Market Place was where incarcerated people were once, bought and sold. Doesn't sound true to us. It, in fact, started off as a farmers' market and has now been turned into a tourist destination. In Cairns, Australia: While tourists think its perfectly alright to ride their bicycles in the middle of the road, locals think opposite. It isn't something that locals welcome much, and don't be flabbergasted if they honk, yell, abuse, or even make an attempt to push you off your bikes. Bali: It is annoying to see people who should've stayed on the beach because of what they are wearing walking into malls, banks and some, even daring, to ride their vespa in Bali. The locals of Bali must be thinking if they would do the same back home.
