The reason for its popularity can be credited to its cross platform feature and its accessibility to smartphones users using all types of operating systems.

But despite being one of the most popular cloud storage option available Dropbox has faced some major security lapses in the past including the hack recently. Also a situation in 2011 where users could access accounts without using passwords also discouraged users to post any financial or critical information on Dropbox citing security concerns. This has discouraged the SMBs as well.

Dropbox, however continues be one of the most obvious choice for personal users sharing music, videos and photos.
