Terror strike: firms cancel Bangalore visits
Bangalore: The shocking terror attacks in the financial capital of India, Mumbai, seems to be hitting Indian IT industry hard as some foreign clients have reportedly canceled their planned visits to offices of some of major Indian IT companies in Bangalore. Upcoming IT events in the city are also under uncertainty as the potential foreign participants are concerned over security situation in the technology capital of India. Infosys, the second largest IT company in India said that planned trips by its staff to India's financial capital have been scrapped for now. Mohandas Pai, HR Director, Infosys said security has been stepped up at the company's premises and that all employees are safe. Cisco, another IT major in India mentioned that all employees are safe and they have been requested to work from home, today. "Employees and clients in Mumbai are safe. We continue to monitor the situation closely and have increased our security arrangements and vigilance across facilities in India. There is minimal disruption to our Mumbai operations," said Laxman Badiga, CIO, Wipro. Most of top IT companies already have strong security measures in place like armed security guards and electric fences around their campuses and now they are planning to set up new systems like screening machines to check all the baggage entering to the office. Many company heads were there in Mumbai to attend the E&Y Entrepreneur of the year Award event when the strikes happened. It includes Jim Turley, E&Y global Chairman and CEO, Anand Mahindra, Anil Agarwal, PRS Oberoi, Gautam Thaper, Venugopal Dhoot, K V Kamath, A M Naik, Tulsi Tanti and Prashant Ruia.
