Temporary jobs up 20%; salaries rise 15%

BANGALORE:The number of temp jobs has jumped by 20 percent in verticals like BFSI, manufacturing and consumer durables. Salaries have improved by 15 percent compared to last year, though Bangalore and Delhi continue to top in temp salaries across industries and job profiles. According to the annual temp salary report compiled by TeamLease Services, the country's largest staffing company, HR and administration temps in IT and ITeS sectors take home the highest pay packets of about $363 followed closely by manufacturing and BFSI of about $272 for the same level). In cities like Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune, HR and admin temps at the same level would earn anywhere between $227 and $272 per month. The Temp Salary Primer 2006 has studied salaries across nine locations and 23 profiles for earnings between December 2004 and December 2005. Even in the ITeS sector, which has been the slowest to accept temp workers, TeamLease has 800 agents working for BPOs.
