Tejas inks pact with ITI

BANGALORE: Tejas Networks India Ltd., a leader in next-generation SDH products announced today that it has signed a technical collaboration agreement with ITI Limited for its TJ100 series of Next-generation SDH products for STM-1, STM-4 and STM-16 capacity. ITI is India's premier telecom equipment manufacturing company, which pioneered the growth of telecommunications in India for more than five decades. Having contributed to over 70% of the existing Indian network, the state-owned company offers a complete range of telecom products covering the whole spectrum of switching, transmission, access and subscriber premises equipment. "For our next-generation SDH product range, we were looking for a technology partner who has the latest cost effective solutions. After careful evaluation of multiple global companies, we chose to partner with Tejas Networks India Ltd., who have done a commendable job in designing and developing leading edge next-generation SDH products", said CMD, ITI, Shri Y.K. Pandey. "We expect that Tejas' strength in R&D will complement our manufacturing and marketing strengths to create a winning combination". India is one of the fastest growing telecom markets in the world. As the tele-density increases from the current level of 6 to 10 (per hundred) in the next few years, there will be tremendous demand to expand the optical networks forming the foundation of all telecommunications services. Globally, Next-generation SDH is the technology of choice for building these next generation optical networks, which seamlessly carry voice, data, and video traffic simultaneously.
