Bangalore: The gizmo freaks are stranded amidst the world of bugs with a survey revealing that some technology breakdown could never be repaired. John Horrigan, the author of the study said, "You are talking about close to one in four cellphone users and one in five computer users saying, 'Hey I cannot cope with this any longer, I am done'." Almost a quarter of mobile phone users complained that their devices couldn't be fixed and 15 percent of the technology users in general gave their nod to the fact that certain breakdowns cannot be repaired. Moreover, the waning faith on the technical support provided by the companies made many of those, whose devices were repaired, to opt for either self engineering or their relatives' help. 28 percent fixed the problem themselves and 15 percent got help from friends or relatives. "So, some companies have started tapping online communities to offer help, taking advantage of tech-savvy customers who enjoy trading tips online," says Lyle Fong, CEO of Lithium Technologies. However, the method hasn't received enough of popularity, as only two percent of those surveyed solved their problems online. The Pew Internet and American Life Project survey scrutinized the complexity that has gripped today's technology, whereby every device has to function in an integrated ecosystem. It is essential since they have to support each other in various tasks like to swap videos and music. The entire study covered devices like computers, Internet service, music players, cell phones and their higher-end siblings known as "smart" phones.
