KOCHI: Two IT professionals, who allegedly tried to develop an agro-based software using the source code of another software company, have been arrested in Kochi. G K Mohan and Biju Sebastian, joint owners of the Kochi-based B D Tech Private Ltd, allegedly tried to develop software using the source code of software 'Harvest it' of Softsystems Ltd, police said. The two were former employees of Softsystems, they said adding while Mohan was General Manager of Softsystems, Sebastian was the project expert. The softsystems source code is said to be worth several crores. They had been entrusted with the source code to be taken to a Belgium-based company for rectification in the program while on a business trip representing Softsystems, police said. On their return, the duo left Softsystems and floated their own company, they said. Following a complaint from the Softsystems that the product of B D Tech envisaged all features of 'Harvest it' and had been developed with their source code, police yesterday conducted a raid in the premises of B D Tech and seized their computer. C-DAC, which conducted forensic inspection, confirmed the presence of the source code in their hard disk, police said.
