Tech Mahindra reports Q4 loss

Mumbai: Tech Mahindra, one of the largest solution providers in the telecom space has reported a net loss of Rs 329 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2007 as against a net profit of Rs 89.1 crore in the corresponding year-ago quarter. The loss is due to a one-time expense of Rs 525 crore as payment to a trillion dollar European client in the fourth quarter. It also reported a 108 percent increase in Q4 revenues to Last year. The net profit after tax, excluding exceptional items, increased by 120 percent to 196.1 crores for quarter four in the financial year 2007 as against 89.1 crores in quarter in the financial year 2006. After including exceptional items of Rs 524.9 crore and excess provision write back of Rs 33.9 crore, the company reported a 48.3-percent fall in net profit to Rs 121.5 crore (Rs 235.4 crore) for the full year ending March 2007. Consolidated revenues rose 135.6 per cent to Rs 2,929 crore from Rs 1,242.7 crore in the previous year. Consolidated net profit after tax, excluding exceptional items, grew by 160 percent to 612.6 crores from 235.4 crores in the previous year. The company derived 18 percent, 73 percent and nine percent of its revenues from the US, Europe and rest of the world respectively and the number of clients increased from 62 in 2006 to 83 in 2007.
