Tata to scale up production of Green Batteries

Mumbai: Tata AutoComp Systems has announced its plans to scale up production of "TATA Green Batteries" at the company's Pune facility. The company plans to increases production to one million automotive batteries by 2008-09 and expand the capacity further to two million units by 2010-11, to meet demand and fuel its growth plans, stated a release. "The key benefit of the technology is that it replaces traditionally used hazardous chemical elements by harmless calcium alloy. This ensures that the batteries are high on performance as well as environmentally clean, inoffensive and safer under the hood of cars," said Rajeev Malik, Head Marketing, Tata AutoComp Systems. Tata Green Batteries is jointly produced by Tata AutoComp Systems and GS Yuasa, Japan and is retailed through 3000 outlets across India.
