Tata to acquire Britain's Brunner Mond

MUMBAI: Tata Chemicals will buy a majority stake in the U.K based Brunner Mond Group, one of the world's largest producers of Soda Ash. However the terms of the deal were not known. A statement by the company said both the companies had entered into an agreement in this regard and the deal will be sealed subject to certain terms and conditions and regulatory approvals. Tata Chemicals has recently been in news for its acquisitions of assets abroad. Its recent bid to acquire a Egyptian fertilizer company was aborted. Earlier this year, it had acquired a 33 percent stake in Indo-Maroc Phosphore of Morocco.
