MUMBAI: The worldÂ’s second largest branded tea company, Tata Tea Ltd. will acquire Good Earth, a U.S. based specialty tea brand for less than $100 million, a leading daily reported on Thursday.
Tata Tea, which acquired Tetley of the U.K. in 2000 for $432 million will buy Good Earth, which sells herbal, fruit-flavored, medicinal and traditional teas through out the U.S., the newspaper said adding Tata Tea also wants to buy another U.S. specialty tea brand for about $100 million.
“The acquisition would help Tata Tea consolidate its position in the specialty tea segment as global consumption of specialty teas is growing at a faster clip compared to traditional black tea,” the newspaper said.
