Tata Motors records 22.5 percent sales growth

PUNE: Pune based Tata Motors, one of India's biggest commercial vehicles and passenger cars makers today said its sales in January grew by 22.5 percent. The company sold 39,000 vehicles last month, including exports, up from 31,840 logged in Jan 2004. Tata Motors sold 17,003 buses and trucks in the domestic market in January 2005, increase its tally to 17.5 percent over the corresponding period in the last year. In the cars segment, the company sold 18,054 units in January, which saw a growth of 23 percent over a one year period. Its most successful car Indica registered sales of 10,650 units, growing by 32 percent.
