Tarantella to acquire New Moon

SANTA CRUZ, CA: Publicly held Tarantella (Nasdaq: TTLAC), a provider of secure application access software, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire New Moon Systems in a strategic move to expand Tarantella’s product line and market reach. The combined company will offer the range of products for remote application access in the market. Tarantella hopes that its new offering will mount a formidable challenge to Citrix Systems and reshape the server-based computing industry. Privately held, San Jose, California-based New Moon Systems, develops and deploys software that manages Windows applications across private and public networks. New Moon Systems was founded in mid-1999 by Prashant Navare aling with Edwin Lau, Vice Chairman, New Moon Systems. Navare was until recently Vice President, Engineering at New Moon Systems. Prior to co-founding the company, Navare held technical positions at Metaphor Computer Systems and Documentum. Navare holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and an MS in Computer Science from LSU.
