Mumbai: The Indian Hotels (IHCL)-owned Taj Hotels is going to build a spa of 30,000 sq feet in Mumbai that the company said would be the Asia's largest spa. The spa would be constructed in Taj Lands End, the suburban property of IHCL in upmarket Bandra. The Taj chain of hotels has 24 spas in cities like London, New York, Dubai and Goa. Confirming the development, a spokesperson for the hotel told IANS: "We are building Asia's largest spa because in the past few years, the entire dynamics of travelling and luxury has undergone a shift." "There is huge demand for such extra services, specially those related to beauty and health and fitness." The spa is likely to be opened in the second half of 2009. The spa here would have Ayurvedic massages, body scrubs, salon and beauty packages with hydrotherapy and steam facilities, she said. "Yoga and other meditation methods would be included to give an ancient touch for the rejuvenating treatments." However, she refused to divulge more details about the project. "When our customers stay with us, we want to give them a memorable experience, not just a stay," she said. Taj Spa says it is the only Indian spa brand in the world with unique luxurious Indian spa therapies and experiences. Its programmes are designed to luxuriously pamper and indulge, heal and nourish, restore and rejuvenate.
