PALO ALTO: TIBCO Software Inc has announced that Virgin Mobile, the UK's fastest-growing network, and the world's most successful mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), has utilized TIBCO as an integration platform to enable the introduction of a new customer billing system to support its 3.2 million customers. This is the second major integration project at Virgin Mobile using TIBCO technology following the deployment last year, which enabled gateway services with T-Mobile. Virgin Mobile also plans to deploy TIBCO's business-to-business infrastructure technology early next year to enable it to build a billing gateway for partner organizations. "Virgin Mobile sees its investment in TIBCO as an investment in its future. With an integrated platform, Virgin Mobile will be able to add new products and services and interact with new partners in real-time," said Jon Kandiah, technical services director, Virgin Mobile. "For us, TIBCO is not just a business integration platform, but an agile and flexible strategic business tool." Virgin Mobile's billing system is specifically designed to handle mobile IP and content data services, providing the scalability necessary for a growing customer base. Virgin Mobile wanted to integrate its new customer billing system with an existing CRM system and worked closely with TIBCO's Professional Services Group in orchestrating a build-to-deployment time span of just three months. The project has consolidated three applications into one for all customer service agents and, as a result, it is already experiencing significantly reduced call durations. "Virgin Mobile has rapidly established itself as the number one virtual network operator in the world," said Erik Hansen, president of EMEA, TIBCO Software Inc. "The selection of TIBCO as its business integration platform will ensure that it continues to lead the way in how it delivers mobile services and interacts with both customers and trading partners alike."
