Bangalore: TCS signed a MoU with Mumbai University on Tuesday, December 3, to fund the restoration of the Rajbhai Clock tower and library at its base, in co-ordination with the Indian Heritage Society, Mumbai.

The refurbishment of the iconic landmark will be funded by TCS which has allocated INR 4.20 crore for the cause.

The architectural restoration plan (to be carried out by the famous architect Brinda Somaya) involves strengthening the buildings’ structure, consolidating and cleaning out stones (freeing them of biological growth), as well as repairing damaged parts of the structure.

TCS’s plan for the library aims at converting the old library into a hi-tech site where rare books are to be made available.

The event was held at the Raj Bhavan, and was attended by TCS CEO and MD N. Chandrasekaran, S. Ramadorai, Vice Chairman of TCS, S Mahalingam, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director of TCS, Anita Garware, chairperson for Indian Heritage Society and Brinda Somaya.

“The Rajabhai Clock Tower and Library is iconic architectural landmark of south Mumbai and TCS is proud to work with the Indian Heritage Society to completely restore this heritage structure to its original glory. TCS was established in Mumbai and we are committed to preserving Mumbai’s rich heritage which has a strong historical significance to the city and the nation.” stated Chandrasekaran.
