TCS buys airlines BPO firm

MUMBAI: India's top software services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said it has acquired business process outsourcing firm Airline Financial Support Services (I) Pvt Ltd, to enhance its offerings to the airlines and hospitality industries. TCS, part of the diversified Tata conglomerate, said in a late evening statement it had acquired the firm, which was formed as a joint venture of Swissair and Tata Sons Ltd over a decade ago to offer revenue accounting services captively to the airline. It did not indicate how much TCS paid for the acquisition. The firm has since extended its clientele and its team of 400 people offers a wide portfolio of services like traffic accounting, cargo revenue accounting, passenger interline billing, navigation support and frequent flyer programme administration.
