MUMBAI: Syntel, Inc, today announced that the Company's India Global Development Centers have been assessed at the highest Level 5 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI v. 1.1). Syntel had been assessed at Level 5 of the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) in 2001, which is replaced by the new CMMI. A rigorous independent assessment conducted by QAI India using the Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) yielded this achievement. The appraisal involves a meticulous process of assessing and evaluating each of the CMMI process areas and the related practices for their highest maturity. "I'm very proud of our team and the hard work they put forth to earn this wonderful validation of the quality services we are delivering to our Global 2000 customers each day," said Keshav Murugesh, Syntel COO. "As applications outsourcing and e-Business engagements continue to grow in complexity, Syntel's customers can take comfort in the fact that our development and management methodologies are world class." Syntel has also earned ISO 9001:2000 and BS 7799-2:2002 certification for its facilities in India. Syntel opened its first Global Development Center in Mumbai, India in 1992, followed by a facility in Chennai, India in 1997. In 2004, the Company opened the doors to three additional Centers in India in the cities of Mumbai, Chennai, and Pune.
