Syntel to expand in operations in Chennai

CHENNAI:Syntel Inc will invest $20 million in India to expand its facility after the Nasdaq listed company completed registration of 27.52 acre plot of land at Siruseri in Chennai's IT corridor. Syntel said it had invested about $14 million ( 61 crore) during 2004, which was made in its facilities in Chennai, Mumbai and Pune. "We continue to make significant investments in India. In this quarter, we completed a brand new 500 seat facility in Adyar (Chennai) and also made solid progress on our 40 acre IT campus in Pune, where we will house 3000 consultants by September 2005," said Keshav Murugesh, Global Chief Operating Officer, Syntel, in a release here. He said ‘The Block Book of Outsourcing’, a leading global publication, ranked the company 28 on the list of the top 50 BPO providers. The global headcount crossed 4,700 during the first quarter ended March 31, 2005, it said.
