Bangalore: It's a known fact that rich countries always aid the less privileged countries in one way or the other. Rich and poor countries collaborate with each other by different means like foreign aid, commerce, the environment, and more. And Sweden seems to be the most committed nation this year in developing policies that benefit poor countries, according to the Center for Global Development. The Commitment to Development Index which is taken every year by Center for Global Development rates rich-country governments on how much they are helping poor countries via seven key linkages: aid, trade, investment, migration, environment, security, and technology. The CDI then takes the average for an overall score to know the different leading nations. This year, The Scandinavian countries seem to be more committed than other wealthy nations to development policies that benefit poor countries. Sweden tops the organization's Commitment to Development Index, with Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands close behind. The United States ranks 11th and the UK 16th in the annual analysis, which is based on national efforts in such areas as aid and trade. An interesting feature of the survey is that the scoring of different nations based on the index is adjusted for size to see if countries live up to their potential to help and this enables small countries to beat big ones. Scores are on a standard scale and 5 is taken as average. Sweden scored a 7.0 on the scale with Denmark and Netherlands closing behind with 6.8 and 6.7 respectively. However Unites States failed to find place in the top ten and stayed at 11th postion with 5.4.Sweden scored 13.6 alone on aiding other nations and showed 6.2 on migration, 5.7 on investment and 8.8 on migration in the detailed survey list.
