Education

‘Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man’

Vivekananda, the great thinker and reformer of India realized the importance of education and embraced it. In his vision all the social and global evils can be eradicated through education. The objective of learning is to manifest in our lives the perfection, which is the very nature of our inner self.

Education according to Swami is , ‘not the amount of information that is put into your brain and runs riot there, undigested all your life. We must have life-building, man-making, character-making, assimilation of ideas. If you have assimilated five ideas and made them your life and character, you have more education than any man who has got by heart a whole library. The education which does not help the common mass of people to equip themselves for the struggle of life, which does not bring out the strength of character, a spirit of philanthropy, and the courage of a lion — is it worth the name?’.
