Summer school with Microsoft

BANGALORE: Microsoft Research India has started summer schools to improve computer education in alliance with Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and IIT (Madras). Beginning on May 22nd through June 10th 2006, it would feature leading international experts and network with the global research community in cryptography, algorithms and complexity. The Head of Cryptography, security and algorithm, Ramaratnam Venkatesan stated that the objective was to enhance research pool and encourage basic research. “We would also like to integrate talent among the Indian researchers who are already well advanced in their domain and are globally recognized too," he said. P. Anandan, managing director of Microsoft Research stated, “It has already attracted faculty members, senior undergraduate students, graduate students and research scholars.” The school is expected to begin with 40 interns this year from within India and abroad.
