SumTotal to step up R&D in India

Hyderabad: SumTotal Systems, a global provider of talent and learning management solutions, is planning to scale up the R&D work at its centre in India. It is also planning to increase its presence in the Indian market and is in talks with retailers for implementing its talent management solutions. The company is also looking at acquiring companies engaged in compensation management and recruitment management segments. The company's India centre in Hyderabad will work in tandem with the Washington office to build software solutions based on software as a service (SAS) model. "The SAS model is gaining momentum and it is our focus area for growth. We are developing new talent management solutions based on the SAS model, which will be released in 2008. The Hyderabad centre will mainly be involved in testing and ensuring the quality of the product," said Don Fowler, CEO, SumTotal Systems. The centre will also play a major role in developing content for handheld devices. The Hyderabad centre, which presently employs over 300 professionals, is set to increase the haedcount by another 50 by December this year. It will also test the company's new compensation management solutions.
