Subex Systems plans foray into China

BANGALORE : Subex Systems, a fast-growing telecoms software company, plans to expand into China following a sales and marketing alliance with a local software firm to gain a foothold in the trillion-dollar economy. A company spokesman told Reuters, the firm's chief executive officer and chief operating officer would announce further details at a news conference on Tuesday. Subex is among a handful of Indian firms that have ventured into products in a sector dominated by service companies. Its investors include Intel Capital and Toronto Dominion Bank. Bangalore-based Subex makes products that help telecom service firms check fraud and verify bills. It counts US telephone service provider Sprint Corp and Cyprus telecoms firm CyTA among its 39 clients. Subex's shares were up 4.6 per cent higher at a three-year-high of Rs 291.75 at the Bombay Stock Exchange on Monday. The shares have surged 153 per cent in the past six months, outperforming 87 per cent rise in Bombay 's tech index.
