Sterlite bags orders worth $ 69.5 Mn for power conductors

New Delhi:Sterlite Technologies Thursday said it has bagged contracts worth $69.5 Mn (2.78 billion) from the Power Grid Corp of India, Jaypee Powergrid, Rajasthan's state electricity board, and the Ethiopian Electric Power Corp. The contracts, which are for Sterlite's moose and power conductors, would be supplied between September 2008 and December 2009, as per customers' requirements, a company statement said. Sterlite Technologies, a provider of wire and cable solutions for the power and telecom sectors, has a cumulative manufacturing capacity of 115,000 tonnes of power conductors, which it plans to enhance to 160,000 tonnes.
