Steady growth puts Lenovo in good shape in Indian market

Bangalore: The Indian market presently is inundated with several hardware makers, both home grown and foreign based. And there are new players joining the race every other day. However big the list may grow, it is always easy to spot the pioneers. One such name is of Lenovo, the fourth largest PC makers in the world. And they are slowly but steadily climbing up the chart. The company's India story is also similar. "India is a critical market for the company," said Rory Read, President and COO, Lenovo. With the business strategy of 'Protect and Attack', the company is planning aggressive policies for India. They begin with starting new stores in tier 3, 4 and 5 cities like Patna, Bhubaneshwar, Siliguri and towns in the north eastern part of the country. Regarding his view on the Indian market, Read added that, "I think we are beginning to scratch the cover here. India is one of the fastest growing emerging markets for us." The company is targeting the age group of 18-24 and trying to have an instant connect with them by lining up new product range. Amar Babu R.K, Managing Director, Lenovo India said, "We are enhancing our products in terms of graphics used, color, form factor etc to reach out to more people in our target age group." With new strategies in line and expectations of new kind of products like smartphones and tablets, Lenovo looks forward to the future with great hopes of increasing further its market share in India as well as worldwide.
