Sprout promotes Vijay Lathi to partner

NEW YORK: Sprout Group, a venture capital firm focused on the communications, software, and healthcare technology industries, said it promoted principal Vijay Lathi to partner. Lathi joined Sprout in 1998 after working as an analyst in the Healthcare Venture Capital Group at Robertson Stephens & Co. and Cornerstone Research, a consulting firm focused on financial and economic analysis for business litigation. Lathi graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University where he received his BS and MS in chemical engineering, with an emphasis on the application of engineering to life science technology. Lathi is also a member of AiCHE. Lathi serves on a number of Sprout Group portfolio boards, including Focus Technologies, Kalypsys, Picoliter, Structural GenomiX, and Symyx Therapeutics. Sprout Group has invested in more than 300 companies and manages $3 billion in committed capital. Sprout investments in which Lathi has played a role include Affymax, ePocrates, Nuvelo, and NxStage Medical.
