Sony plans to take on iPhone, iPad
Bangalore: Sony is keen to catch up with its rivals and plans to release a new family of handheld devices to meet that goal. Sony plans to release a smartphone, which will have the PlayStation brand and will be able to run PlayStation titles. In the recent years, companies such as Apple have completely taken away Sony's share in the portable music player and are threatening its mobile phone business also with devices such as iPhone and iPad, reports Thinkdigit.
Recently, Sony's CFO expressed his company's wish to enter the tablet market, and quite predictably the second device to come is a tablet. According to sources quoted by Wall Street Journal, the tablet will be a combination of a netbook, an ebook reader and a portable gaming machine - so pretty much everything that the Apple iPad will offer.
With this device, Sony will be leading the battle against the Apple iPad, which was not quite well received by critics. Although these reports have not been confirmed by Sony, they look to be more or less true. Sony is also due to release its iTunes Store competitor - Sony Online Service. According to Wall Street Journal, the store will offer "many of the same movies, televisions shows and music already available on iTunes."

1: As far as Indian Market is concerned Sony is
NO MORE a Trust Worthy company, they even
started fooling their customers in terms of
Warranty & Service issues. Sony now a
days doesn't hesitates while knowingly
selling a deffective product.
I don't know why Sony is not taking care of its own Brand Image.

2: Good luck to Sony. But how can they
effectively do this when they don't have
their own OS? They're pretty much dependent
on windows, symbian, & recently android
to power their devices. I think what they
nees to really work on, is to release their
devices sooner. They tend to announce a cool
device and release it a year later, lol.
