Sonata becomes Mercury's distributor

BANGALORE: Mercury Interactive Corporation (NASDAQ: MERQ), the global leader in business technology optimization (BTO), today announced that it has appointed Sonata Information Technology Limited (SITL) as its distributor in India. Under the terms of the agreement, SITL will resell and distribute Mercury's BTO products to customers in India, who can now pay in Indian currency for implementing and using Mercury's products. Indian customers will also have the benefit of purchasing Mercury's products from an established reseller. SITL's reach and expertise in the local market is expected to enable Mercury to reach a larger base of clients. "We are proud to partner with Mercury to establish a stronger client network in India," said B. Ramaswamy, president and chief executive officer of SITL. "Companies are now facing the pressure to optimize Information Technology and we feel that BTO is the necessary first step to align IT performance with customers' strategy." Mercury's expansion in India is part of the company's continued growth in the region and commitment to supporting customers and partners locally. Mercury's established base of customers, deploying BTO initiatives in India, includes local Indian enterprises and systems integrators, as well as multinationals with Indian operations. "Mercury has experienced strong momentum in the Indian market over the years," said T. Srinivasan, managing director of Mercury's offices in India. "We have fine-tuned our marketing and channel strategy to best address India's rapidly growing technology market. We believe our relationship with SITL is a major step towards strengthening our presence in India." BTO aligns IT and business strategy, while optimizing the quality, performance, and business availability of software applications. Mercury's BTO offerings consist of integrated software, services and best practices for IT governance, application delivery and application management. This enables IT functional teams to work in a centralized and automated environment; saving time, reducing costs, and increasing the effectiveness of IT activities.
