Software, ITeS exports see a rise

NEW DELHI: The software industry is gaining on its pace towards augmentation as the latest report by Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) has announced a booming increase32.29 percent of Software and services exports, including IT Enabled Services (ITeS) in the April-June quarter. Swelling to $6.7 billion, ESC Executive Director D K Sareen said that 21.07 percent of the target has been achieved comfortably in the first quarter as compared to last year with the reports springing from the corporates promising more of a development. "Export of software and ITeS has increased as compared to the same period last year and we expect the pace of growth to accelerate in subsequent quarters since more Indian IT companies are now focusing on value added services," Envisaging an annual growth of 19 percent for 2006-07 in hardware sector due to its current buoyancy in the market, ESC has projected 33 percent increase in export of computer software and services including ITeS during 2006-07 at $31.8 billion as compared to $28.6 billion during the same period last year.
