Sify, D-Link team up to offer Wi-Fi

MUMBAI: D-Link India Ltd, a provider of network solutions and Sify Limited, an eCommerce services provider have teamed up to put India onto the global Wi-Fi map. India currently has a larger number of Wi-Fi hotspots (over 3 times higher than China) and the number is growing exponentially. Sify has already established Wi-Fi hotspots with broadband connectivity in Bangalore, Chennai and Delhi using D-Link’s Wireless Products. Sify has recently established about 120 hotspots in Bangalore. With this, the city has joined a select list of global cities that include New York, Washington, Chicago, San Francisco, Paris, London and Melbourne to be wirelessly enabled. The Chennai and Delhi airports too have been WiFi enabled by Sify and have acquired the distinction of being the first Indian airports have this new age facility for the convenience of travelers. They can now surf the Net and send e-mails from anywhere in the departure lounge without having to plug into Internet ports or use a modem to dial up. With the advent of convergence, Sify has also started providing Video conferencing facilities to their customers.
