Share markets continue to fall, Satyam scrip loses almost all value

Mumbai: Indian equities markets continued their downward slide Friday morning, with a key index falling 0.34 percent over its previous close. The sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was down 0.34 percent or 32.37 points Friday and was trading at 9,544.51 points about 15 minutes into trade. The Sensex opened at 9,434.85 points, lower than its previous close of 9,586.88. The broader S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading at 2,914.05 points, 0.22 percent lower. Battering of the Satyam scrip continued with the stock falling 80 percent since opening bell and trading around 6 about an hour after the opening bell. Other market indices also fell with BSE's midcap index trading 1.46 percent lower and the smallcap index shedding 1.95 percent.
