Senior execs quit Sun Microsystems India

New Delhi: Sun Microsystems India Managing Director Anil Valluri and Regional Director KP Unnikrishnan have left the company following its integration with Oracle Corp. In April 2009 Oracle Corp acquired Sun Microsystems in a $7.4 billion deal. The deal received final regulatory clearance in January this year after which the process of integration between the two firms initiated. In the same month Larry Ellison, CEO, Oracle Corp, had warned of 1,000 layoffs at Sun Microsystems. Reports suggest that more senior managers at managers at Sun Microsystems may leave in the next few weeks, as some roles are bound to overlap after the company's integration with Oracle. A report in business daily Mint quotes a senior Sun executive saying that more departures will happen. Last week, Oracle Corp has appointed Bhaskar Pramanik, who was Vice President (Volume Business), Sun Microsystems as the new MD of Oracle India.
