SAN JOSE: Selectica Inc. (Nasdaq:SLTC) Wednesday announced that its industry-leading Interactive Selling Solution (ISS) Configuration Platform will be used by IBM to generate configuration and manufacturing information for IBM's systems hardware products. When fully deployed, the new Web-based system will serve as the sole configuration tool for all IBM's hardware products, from personal computers to mainframes. Selectica's Interactive Selling Solution will provide IBM's sales personnel, business partners and customers with accurate information on systems configuration, manufacturing and product availability. The system -- which will be fully integrated with IBM's hardware manufacturing operations -- will be deployed in multiple languages and environments. IBM will deploy the tool on IBM eServer pSeries systems using IBM middleware, including WebSphere and DB2. In future customer proposals for ISS, Selectica will recommend DB2 as its preferred database and WebSphere as its preferred application server. "This is a significant milestone for Selectica," said Dr. Sanjay Mittal, Co-founder, Chairman and CEO, Selectica. "We are very happy to be working with the world's largest information technology company and look forward to helping IBM enhance its global sales capability over the long term. We are confident that IBM will benefit from our configuration platform's unmatched ability to model the most complex products, scalability via the Web, ease of use and low total cost of ownership." Selectica's agreement with IBM was signed in December 2002 and reflected in third quarter FY 2003 bookings.
