Scicom Info to set up new facility

NOIDA: Scicom Infotech is planning to scale up operations by hiring 100 professionals by the next year-end and set up a new facility in Noida for which the company will raise three million dollar. "At present, we are a 200-employee company, and in 2005, we will be 300. Scicom is planning to have a second facility in Noida towards the end of the next year," Indranil Chakravarty, MD, Scicom Infotech, said. "We will raise $2-3 million through equity funding by mid-2005 from three categories of investors -- institutional, corporates and individuals" he said, adding this will be raised to finance the company's expansion plans. It already has a development centre each in Noida and the US. He said the company is looking at the domestic oil and gas majors and it is in talks with ONGC, Gail, Reliance to provide consultative services to start with. In the exploration and production segment, Scicom has niche understanding of successful project execution by forming strategic IT partnerships with underlying knowledge in the areas of 3D graphics, computational modelling, GIS systems architechture. Skicom's customers include Hallilburton Energy Services Schlumberger among others. Software tools and services developed by Scicom are used as core technologies in applications and these assist geologists and geo-physicists in developing effective plan for oil and gas recovery and accurate calculation of hydrocarbon volumes, oil pressures and flows.
