Bangalore: Satyam Computer, now renamed as Mahindra Satyam, has topped the list of exporters from the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and IT SEZs in Andhra Pradesh for 2008-09. Even after being tainted by scams involving former Chairman Ramalinga Raju, Satyam has maintained its past record of being one of the top exporters from Andhra Pradesh, clocking a turnover of $883 million (Rs.4,231.90 crore).

According to the figures released by the AP Department of IT and Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) Hyderabad for 2008-09, Satyam topped the list of exporters. The company's turnover accounted for almost one-eighth of the State's total export turnover, which stands at Rs.32,509 crore. Even with a shaky one year it has managed to surpass companies like Infosys, Wipro and Microsoft, which bagged a turnover of Rs 3094.31 crore, Rs 2540.90 crore and Rs 1286.20 crore respectively. TCS is fifth in the list.
However, both the State IT Department and the STPI, Hyderabad pointed out that these figures are tentative and official admit that when true picture regarding Satyam emerge then there might be changes in the performance chart. "These are whatever figures we got from the existing managements of the companies towards the end of 2008 and we have done whatever certification we could, but there would be some alterations when the final figures come out," said a senior STPI official.
