Hyderabad: Hyderabad based IT services provider, Satyam Computer Services is planning to expand its operation to non-English speaking areas like China, Malaysia and Brazil, which require multi-lingual capabilities. The company has decided to build academic partnerships with local institutions to groom talent to meet the country’s business requirements. This is part of the company strategy to take jobs to locations where there is talent, says Rajul Asthana, Head of Satyam Learning Centre. "The growth in new markets does not mean lesser induction in India. The business momentum is such that we expect to recruit talent irrespective of where they are located in, both in India and all these markets," Asthana told Business Line. The company is creating technology campuses in Malaysia and China and expects to employ about 2,000 in Malaysia in the near term and to increase to about 5,000 by 2011. The company already has a significant presence in China and continues to recruit local talent from top engineering colleges, he added. The technology companies face immense challenges in China, Malaysia, Brazil and South Africa. Apart from imparting training in technology, they require to be groomed in multi-lingual capabilities and cross-cultural issues. "Typically, over 60 percent of the recruits in these markets are fresh graduates, who require fine-tuning. By creating a campus and virtual learning capabilities, we are able to address the issue of grooming local talent better," saidAsthana.
