Satyam arm Nipuna to focus on BPO segment

Nipuna Services Ltd, the business process outsourcing (BPO) subsidiary of Satyam Computer Services Ltd, would concentrate on providing complete business process outsourcing to its clients, B Ramalinga Raju, chairman, Satyam.

HYDERABAD: Raju said that the complete process outsourcing would include a contact center and back-office processes. He was speaking at the inauguration of Nipuna’s office. "Nipuna would begin with a 200-seat call center which would take up transaction processing in the first year, moving on to process management and end-to-end function management from the 25th month onwards", he said. N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of AP inaugurated Nipuna’s facility. Naidu said that the BPO and IT-enabled services sectors are expected to create one million jobs in the State in the next few years. "With services emerging as the dominant segment in the GDP, the BPO sector is expected to have a sustained growth. The BPO market is expected to reach $543 billion by 2004. Gartner group study says that manufacturing services are accounting for 44 per cent, human resources 14 per cent and payment services nine percent," he added. "Nipuna would address the financial services, insurance and banking sectors. It would benefit from tapping the client base of Satyam, which has over 300 clients around the world, including 67 Fortune 500 companies," Raju said.
