Samsung India targets 30% growth with new IT products

BANGALORE: Samsung India Electronics Ltd., is targeting a 30 percent revenue growth this calendar year with a host of new IT products. The leading consumer electronics and IT major will introduce products ranging from colour laser printers, computer monitors, notebook computers, hard disk drives and DVDs. Having posted a combined turnover of 40 billion in 2003, the company is aiming for equal growth in the three divisions it has presence in the Indian market. "Consistent with our track record, we are upbeat on increasing our sales by 30 percent in the sub-continent during this year," Samsung South West Asia president and CEO Kim Kwang Soo said here Wednesday. "We expect to gain over 50 percent market share in the Indian IT product segment and match its growth with our dominance in the consumer electronics and home appliances segments," he said. Within a week of its global launch, the Korean firm has introduced in the Indian market the 500 series of colour laser printers in three configurations, entry, network and wireless levels.
