BANGALORE: It is said that losing information stored in the mobile phone is more valuable than losing the phone. Sabeer Bhatia, CEO, NavinMail, has come up with Telixo, a technology that offers mobile users instant access to their personal information — phone book, address book, calendar and to-do lists, via the phone but independent of it. Spice Telecom in India has tied up with Sabeer Bhatia to offer its subscribers instant access to such information on the phone. Commenting on the tie up Sean Dexter, Managing Director, Spice Telecom, said, "Telixo will not only serve as a virtual PDA on any phone but also act as an instant personal assistant for users." According to Dexter, Telixo will be of use to businessmen in organizing their workday and once users register online, they can download and install Telixo's data synchronization utility to upload contacts, calendar, tasks and so on, from their desktops to Telixo. This information can then be accessed anytime, anywhere. "The service is being offered free for the next three months," said Dexter, adding that the access is secured, the information is secure and can be edited or updated by the user. Bhatia said Telixo would enable users to upload and get access to all their data through voice along with SMS, thus, dramatically enhancing the capability of the `mobile phone.' Bhatia expects to offer this and similar services through other mobile service providers in India, Asia-Pacific and European markets, where SMS and text usage is high. The Personal Digital Assistant-effect apart, Telixo sees to it that one loses no vital information, even if the mobile phone is lost.
