STPI exports in Sept up 33 percent

NEW DELHI: Software exports through Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) touched Rs 5229 crore during September, registering an increase of 33 per cent compared to same period last year.
The STPI units exports touched Rs 5229 crore in September 2003 as against Rs 3919 crore during the same period last year, an official statement said in New Delhi releasing the monthly figures for the first time.
In 2002-03, units registered with STPI exported software of over Rs 37,176 crore, representating more than 80 per cent of the national software exports.
STPI scheme is a 100 per cent export-oriented scheme and has more than 7400 units. 3544 units have exported software in 2002-03.
