SMARTLINX, Polsani Group to launch an education program

Hyderabad: Smartlinx VOIP Networks, enablers of wholesome education announced that it had signed an agreement with the city based Sister Nivedita Schools (SNS- Polsani Group) to launch an education program through Live Tutor virtual learning environment. This project, which will be implemented in the next academic year beginning June 2010; is set to roll out encompassing 150 teachers and 5000 students, who would be specially trained for this initiative. The President of Sister Nivedita School, Dr. Sudhakar Rao Polsani comments, "This was an important agreement for us as Live Tutor was just the kind of technology we were looking for to help us in our endeavor to spread the reach of quality education with a personal touch. Going forward, we aim to reach out to all our educational institutions through engaging in online classes, for which we plan to enroll our total pool of 250 teachers and 6000 students." Live Tutor Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) is a virtual classroom service, equipped with audio and video infrastructure, developed by Smartlinx VOIP Networks. The company's VLE service unitizes its Live Tutor Learning Management System ("Live Tutor LMS") and Live Tutor Connect service. The partnership assumes greater significance, coming on the heels of the Union HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal's recent announcement of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Smartlinx will connect the Hyderabad based Sister Nivedita School to their counterparts in Karim Nagar and Lingampally through their Voice and Video over IP (VVOIP) based application platform "Live Tutor Connect". Students will now be connected through interactive virtual classes and allow teachers to interact with them on real-time basis, without actual physical presence. Going forward, this should also go a long way in spreading the reach of quality education among students located in remote locations. Live Tutor LMS is a learning management system that provides education institutions with the platform to develop their own learning programs, register students and teachers, manage schedules, maintain a learning calendar and store data. Live Tutor LMS is a customized and enhanced implementation of the MOODLE platform, an open source software for producing internet based courses and websites.
