Bangalore: IT professional's mindset of being in the safety cushions of MNCs is no more. SIMI, one of the major terrorist groups who played a key role in the recent blasts in Bangalore had planned to hit IBM and Dell offices, says a recent Supreme Court affidavit. SIMI is the one, who were behind the serial blasts in Mumbai suburban trains in 2006 and recent blasts in Ahmadabad. Wipro Computer engineer Taufique who was one of the masterminds behind the Ahmadabad blast is shocking for the IT industry. Now it is high time for the MNCs to have a background check of the candidates they hire too. In fact, it may lead to such employees to misuse these MNCs to hit their target. Earlier, terrorist groups had organized a series of meetings attended by top leaders of SIMI to plan the attack. Later Karnataka police arrested some of the top SIMI leaders in the state who were behind the planning of hitting IBM and Dell in Bangalore as part of the outfits plan to target Goa, Bangalore and Mangalore. During such meetings, SIMI activists discussed the matters like Babri Masjid demolition, Gujarat riot, U.S. invasion in Afghanistan and Palestine and Iraq and decided to target multinational companies in India. It is believed that the arrest of top leaders in the state forced SIMI cadres to shift their attack plans to other Indian cities like Gujarat and Rajasthan. The affidavit also mentioned that most of the SIMI cadres both in police custody and wanted list in Karnataka are highly educated.
