SBI unveils new mobile banking service

Bangalore: The State Bank of India unveiled Mobile Banking Service, "State Bank freedoM", which enables customers to move funds, check balance, make payment of bills through mobile phones without visiting any branch for Registration for the Service. This is a free service offered by the bank The service is offered free of charge by the Bank. The customers will have to bear the charges imposed by the telecom operators for the SMS/GPRS. State Bank of India's mobile banking service is concerned with the amount of financial transactions. This service also allows users to conduct mcommerce transactions, view demat account etc. Spanco is the technology provider for the "State Bank freedoM". The Bank has made a connection with Paymate for the payment for goods/services acquired on internet. The Services like Application based, over Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) and over USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) are also used. The telecom operators like, Vodafone, Airtel, Aircel, Tata Docomo and Idea, and can be used over low cost mobile handsets with limited set of offerings within a daily financial limit of 1000 which is 50,000 for Application and WAP based service. For the WAP based service, when the user changes the mobile number the State Bank freedom offers the option to change the mobile number through the system without visiting any branch and thus continue the service. State Bank of India also plans to set up a Mobile Wallet which will be grounded on the policy sanctioned by the Board. The Bank intends to take the mobile banking to the non customers with this policy.
