SAP to hike headcount in India

MUMBAI: Leading business software solution providers, SAP today said the company would increase its India headcounts to 3000 by this year-end and the number would be more than 4000 by 2006. According to Leo Apothekar, President, Global Customer Solutions & Operations, and Member of Executive Board of SAP AG, Germany, about 70 to 75 percent of this added work force would be utilized for lab operations while the rest would be assigned for consultation and support services which would be altered in due course of time. The company would invest 12 to 15 percent of their annual sales in Research and Development. Terming India as one of the eight strategic markets worldwide for business solutions Apothekar said, the company has recorded a 70 percent growth in India in the last fiscal and would continue to exploit India’s knowledge potential. He added, "We are looking at an accelerated growth of 1.5 to 2 times from the existing records in the next three years. We have 54 percent market share in Entrepreneur Resource Planning solutions (ERP) and 21 percent in Company Resource Management (CRM) solutions in India." The company plans to get a major chunk in the mid market, which it termed as Small and Mid-size Business (SBM) market in the country where the company has got 300 customers so far.
