Bangalore: Global software major SAP plans to develop and localise its enterprise applications in Hindi, the most widely-spoken Indian language, to enable its domestic customers leverage technology for speedy delivery, the company said Wednesday. "The Hindi version of various applications such as human capital management, employee self-service, enterprise resource planning (ERP) financials and logistics solutions will be made available soon to Indian customers familiar with the popular language," SAP globalisation services vice-president Yueting Zhou said in a statement here. The German firm also plans to develop the Hindi version of its citizen services applications in the next 12 months to facilitate government agencies like local bodies to provide citizen and utility services. "The language localisation is an important milestone for SAP in India. In keeping with our philosophy to leverage local expertise, a significant amount of development will be carried in collaboration with local partners," Zhou said. Noting that India was a key market for SAP, Zhou said with Hindi-speaking population being in majority, there was a need for organisations to implement technologies in local languages to deliver timely services and serve citizens better. "SAP applications in Hindi will enhance our customers' ability to increase efficiencies and reach out a much wider set of stakeholders. The Hindi release of our applications will provide us a competitive edge and help in expanding our footprint in the government as well as for-profit organisations," SAP India chief operating officer Alok Goyal pointed out.
